TCIA Class of 2009

classof2009-1-smallTen seniors from six area high schools completed coursework as part of the International Baccalaureate Programme at Tri-County International Academy and have received their high school diplomas from their respective schools.  Additionally seven of these students are candidates for the IB Diploma.  They are awaiting the results of their IB exams, which will determine whether or not they will receive the IB Diploma which is highly regarded throughout the world as a measure of excellence in a demanding college preparatory program of studies.

These students  have been accepted to many fine colleges and universities throughout the country, including:  Case Western Reserve University, Colgate University, College of Wooster, Denison University, Elon University, Hofstra University, Miami University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Ohio State University, Ohio University, Slippery Rock University, University of Cincinnati, University of Chicago, University of Dayton, University of Maryland, University of Pittsburgh, University of Rochester, Wesleyan University, and many others.

The members of the Tri-County International Academy Class of 2009, their colleges of choice, and scholarships received are as follows:

  • Brooke Britton (Rittman High School) will attend The Ohio State University and has received an OSU Provost Scholarship, the Rittman Education Association Scholarship, and an American Red Cross Scholarship.
  • Jessica Croley (Wooster High School) will attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University and has received a MVNU Academic Scholarship and MVNU Family and College Grants.
  • Isabel Francis-Bongue (Wooster High School) will attend Ohio University and has received the following OU grants and scholarships:  Gateway Scholarship, George Wamack Grant, Fine Arts Talent Award, and the King Chavez Parks Award.
  • Sydni Franks (Wooster High School) will attend Denison University and has received the DU Mary Carr Endowed Scholarship, a DU National Merit Award, and the James E. Casey Award.
  • Shem Garber (West Holmes High School) will attend Wesleyan University in Connecticut and has received a Wesleyan University Academic Scholarship, the Charles Ray Scholarship, and a WU Matriculation Grant.
  • Amanda Glasgo (Loudonville High School) will attend the University of Dayton and has received a UD Dean’s Merit Scholarship.
  • Daniel Koehler (Triway High School) will attend The Ohio State University and has received an OSU Trustees Scholarship.
  • Ian Lynch (West Holmes High School) will attend the University of Chicago and has received a University of Chicago Academic Grant and an Odyssey Scholarship.
  • Alex Miller (West Holmes High School) will attend the University of Maryland and has received a UM Presidents Scholarship, a UM Academic Scholarship, and The Joel Pomerene Foundation Scholarship.
  • Aryn Pennington (Triway High School) will attend Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and received a SRU Academic Scholarship.

These ten outstanding young men and women received in excess of $750,000 dollars in academic scholarships and grants from their chosen schools and other scholarship agencies.  They have distinguished themselves not only in the IB Program, but in their home high schools and communities with their participation
