Capital Campaign

Tri-County International Academy was established through the generous support of LuK USA and in partnership with area school districts in 2006 to offer tri-county area students the opportunity to participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The academy’s consortium-based program is unique among IB schools.

As our third class of graduates enters universities and colleges in Fall of 2010, we are gathering an increasing number of success stories as evidence of the program’s benefit to students and, as a result, are better able to present concrete results to future students. We are optimistic that our program enrollment is nearing a turning point in the next two years from something of an experimental business and education partnership to an established educational option, and we believe the financial support of business partners such as LuK and others can help see us through to achieve that goal.

While the academy is primarily funded through tuition fees paid to the academy by each student’s home district, the number of students presently enrolled in the program does not yet allow us to meet our operating costs. We are looking to members of the business community to help support the academy with the goal of sustaining the program until a sufficient numbers of students are enrolled to better fill the budget gap.

The capital campaign, under the leadership of co-chair Steve Shapiro, has a fundraising goal for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years of approximately $320,000. Moving forward into 2012-2013 we anticipate this need will be met primarily through enrollment increases paired with the potential introduction of a student tuition element after student interest stabilizes at 25 students per class.

We firmly believe that this program is both a benefit to students seeking a superb educational option and to businesses working to demonstrate the merits of the quality of life and education in our region when recruiting future employees to the area.
